For anyone who owns jewelry of any value, a good jewelry safe is a necessity. Ask anyone who has had their prized belongings stolen and they will mention not only the value of what they lost, but also how much it cost them to replace their missing possessions. Add to that the emotional and sentimental value so many jewelry pieces (such as wedding rings, anniversary necklaces, and heirlooms) and a safe becomes something you cannot go without.
There are a few things to look for in a quality Jewelry safe, however. The first is fire resistance. Why buy an expensive safe if it cannot protect your belongings from more than one disaster? Also, if your safe is fireproof you can also use it to hold precious documents like marriage licenses or social security cards.
You should also consider size and weight when investigating your choices. A large safe will be more difficult for a thief to simply walk away with, but a small safe is more convenient to have in the bed room. One possible solution involves safes with a ring for attachment to the bed frame or some other large object.
The type of code entry device on the safe makes a difference as well. Old fashioned turn dials are tricky and hard to work when you are in a rush. More modern keypads are easier and the codes are more user-friendly, but you need to be sure to keep batteries handy. Safes with key locks are probably the safest and most durable bet (provided you keep some spare keys handy just in case!) And, last but not least, remember style. After all, if its supposed to hold your most beautiful pieces, it should probably look good itself too!
